Values guide a company’s mission and vision by providing a clear roadmap of what’s important to the business. At the core of what drives the company, values can also be a helpful tool for employees.

The Influx values represent how we interact with others and the standards we hold for ourselves and each other on a day-to-day basis. Check out our core values below!

Treat others the way you would like to be treated

Otherwise known as the “Golden Rule” – there’s a reason this is such a well-known principle, the concept applies to every aspect of life- including the workplace!

At Influx we practice this by showing up the way we’d like others to show up for us. We imagine ourselves on the other side of every message, call, or conversation. This applies to everything from a video call- Is my internet quality good enough? Can this person hear me properly?- to empowering others with the tools they need to make good decisions. When you stop and think about things from another person’s perspective, it creates better connections for everyone.

Communicate clearly and with intent

Being a remote company located in 123+ cities around the world with over 1,100+ team members, effective communication is important!

Communication is the starting point for building trust. It respects where the listener is- geographically, culturally, experentially, etc.

Surprisingly, communication is not actually about being heard, it’s about being understood. The key to great communication is considering context, brevity and clarity by respecting the listeners time, energy, and attention. Is it a Slack message or an email? Have I outlined the key points to enable a decision? Is my language clear enough? Good communication prioritizes the listener, driving coherency, understanding, and action in a way that everyone can recognize and appreciate.

Take Action

Do what you say you’re going to do and follow through with the commitments you make. It’s that simple!

Reliability is the magic that empowers workplaces, supply chains, and conversations. It’s especially important for a globally distributed team. Setting clear boundaries and expectations so you can execute properly means you need to reflect. Am I able to take this on? Are we aligned? Should I actually be doing this? It requires you think before speaking because when we make commitments, action needs to follow- and that’s a good thing! When you successfully take action, people see you as reliable, credible, and trustworthy.

Seek the truth

Truth seeking is about being committed to understanding the reality of a situation and communicating that reality honestly and with kindness. Sounds simple enough, but in practice can be pretty challenging. It requires you view feedback as a gift, not a critism. This combines our values of communicating clearly and treating others as you would like to be treated- essentially taking it one step further to ensure we are operating transparently in a shared reality.

In a fully remote work model it’s important to identify, clarify and define our shared reality because it makes it easier for us to check in with ourselves and those around us- which is good for personal and professional growth!

Hold high standards

Let’s put this in perspective: We spend one-third of our life at work. By performing at a high level, we challenge ourselves, we learn more, and we grow.

A high-performance environment positively affects all aspects of our life. It’s a positive ripple effect in action. How exactly does this translate into our values? It’s about actively switching off at the end of the day, celebrating a follow the sun model, being part of a culture that supports and celebrates feedback, flexibility and growth.

We carry this positive, high-growth attitude into all areas of our lives, allowing us to be more present so we show up the way you really want to.
