Describe your job. How do you make a difference for our clients?
My title is project manager, but whenever possible, my role is Scrum Master, spending my days immersed in the work of the team, helping clear the path to “done.” I make a difference for clients by removing the barriers that impede collaboration and trust.
What are some activities you enjoy doing in your free time?
I am always reading a novel, typically near-future, post-apocalyptic science fiction. I’m also a film nerd and watch lots of movies, ranging from schlocky horror to art films. Over the past 18 months, I’ve been learning how to bake bread, and have discovered that I really like tile-placing board games.
What is some career advice that has helped you?
Remember that your accomplishments come from effort and skill. This is a great antidote to imposter syndrome.
What is your favorite Perficient memory so far?
On my very first day at Perficient, my colleague Jennifer Rostal tracked me down and introduced herself to “the new Jennifer” in the office. That introduction turned out to be foundational to my path here at Perficient, which has been closely connected to the Agile and delivery excellence work Jennifer does. It also set a really wonderful example of how we can be welcoming and collaborative to others.
What is something you’ve learned in your career that you want to share with others?
Embrace curiosity! Ask questions, try new things, and be open. Wonder about everything.
What makes you proud to work for Perficient?
Every Perficient project I join is full of smart, talented people who are fully engaged in solving problems together. I’m proud to be part of that.
What inspires you to give your best each day?
My work makes me happy! I’m buoyed by the genuine pleasure of being part of teams doing great work, and I love sparking happiness in teams. We work best together when we delight in it.
