Earth Day 2022: Invest in Our Planet

Earth Day. Environmental Protection Template For Banner, Card, Poster, Background.

Earth Day started in America on April 22, 1970 as a day dedicated to education on environmental issues. However, that year it transformed into 20 million Americans demanding greater protections for our planet. The holiday is now celebrated globally by more than 1 billion people through events, education, and more.

Invest in Our Planet

InstagramEach year the Earth Day Network, the global organizer for Earth Day, comes up with a timely theme. This year’s theme is “Invest in our Planet”.

Earth Day 2022 is focused on accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone – governments, citizens, and businesses – to do their part.

Earthday.org will host an Earth Day Climate Action Summit livestream on April 22nd. This will focus on key solutions to help us reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing these emissions is a team effort – taking both macro and micro-level endeavors.

Activate & Celebrate

Earth Day provides us with a chance to truly think about ways we can contribute, not only as governments and businesses, but also as individuals. So how can you take part in this year’s festivities?Invest Graphic 1

  1. Plant a tree.
  2. Do a trash pick-up in your neighborhood.
  3. Go to an Earth Day festival in your community! Find one on earthday.org.
  4. Ride your bike or walk to your destination.
  5. Use reusable items instead of one-time plastic items.
  6. Plant your own herb or vegetable garden.
  7. Shop from a local farmer. Check out your community farmer’s markets.
  8. Check your vehicle’s tire pressure. This can increase your fuel efficiency.
  9. Repurpose your kitchen scraps. Make your own vegetable stock or even start a compost pile!
  10. Get involved in your community. Local environmental groups can make a huge difference.

Creating a Sustainable Culture

Earth Day isn’t the only time Perficient comes together to mobilize for a better planet. Many of our offices around the globe have employee-driven committees to encourage sustainable practices both in-office and locally. Over the years we’ve toured recycling centers, created reusable bags, shared top tips, and more. Read more about what we do on our blogs!

In addition to our committees, Perficient as a whole is dedicated to practicing good corporate stewardship and engaging in activities that promote environmental sustainability. To achieve this, Perficient focuses on the nature of its client engagements, its use of IT resources, the movement of its employees and contractors, recycling programs, and donations of batteries and other e-waste to appropriate recycling and disposal entities. We encourage you to learn more about Perficient’s environmental sustainability statement here.
