How To Confidently Implement Automation Solutions

One of 2024’s hottest topics has been how to harness the combined power of automation and human expertise effectively. While this might be a new question to some, SEBPO has honed this approach for many clients over the last several years.

It’s worked for us internally, too; our Implementations and Service Delivery Team Members recently launched an internal automated solution (powered by AppSheet) that seamlessly combines our teams’ expert knowledge with interactive technology to further integrate technology into our back-end processes. With a mindset that prioritized continuous improvement and optimization, our team capitalized on the opportunity to revolutionize our workflow and source data utilizing a multi-phased approach.

Laying the Groundwork

The successful implementation of this project started by identifying stakeholders from across the organization and developing the project objectives. This first step may seem like common sense; however, you’ll be amazed to learn how often teams start projects without developing a shared vision of the project’s goals and objectives.

Once we agreed on the project goals and objectives, choosing the team lead and assigning supporting roles and responsibilities became a natural next step. It’s about organizing individuals around common objectives and fostering an environment ripe for collaboration. This helps to ensure the project is a collective journey toward a shared goal. By building it as such, we tap into a reservoir of creativity and passion that would give us momentum to propel our initiative to the finish line.

In addition to carefully selecting the team, it’s important to clearly identify and communicate the project objectives and end goals. How will each team member measure success, based on their experience? For our recent project, we knew that whether a team member was in sales or services, everyone had different use cases for the data, and we needed to make sure the solution would support these goals.

Confidently Harnessing the Tools

With the current hype around innovation and AI, it can feel intimidating to start a tech-forward project. You or your team may feel a certain level of apprehension because of assumed levels of complexity to undertake an automation solution, that internal budgets or resources won’t allow for participation in AI initiatives, or that it will be challenging to keep up with the technology.

When implemented thoughtfully and with the support of leadership and stakeholders, leaning on automation solutions does not have to be a scary undertaking. These tools bring about numerous benefits, and the ultimate solution, especially when combined with human ingenuity, doesn’t have to be complicated.

In SEBPO’s own internal example, crucial source data was aggregated and made cross-functional through a readily available automation solution with a high level of accessibility. Getting accustomed to automation technology in its early stages will give teams time to harness the readily available tools, generating big wins for you, your team, and your organization.
