Volunteers Arranging Donations In A Community Charity Donation Center

Giving back to your community is important! Here is why:

Donating your time to support those around you is extremely beneficial, both for you and your community. Working alongside fellow colleagues who also care about improving their surroundings will allow you to broaden your network. Additionally, it will help you to better understand the circumstances of other members of the community you are serving.

How We Drive Philanthropy in Dallas:

Alongside Perficient’s Giving ERG, the Dallas Local Business Unit has created their own Charitable Giving Committee. This committee is comprised of colleagues who are passionate about giving back to the community and have taken it upon themselves to drive philanthropy in the region. Dallas/Fort Worth is home to over 200 Perficient colleagues this includes the local business unit as well as national business units.

The Charitable Giving Committee has invited ALL Dallas based colleagues to participate in Hunger Action Month this September! This has been done in two different ways: through food donations and a volunteer event. There is a box set up in the kitchen of the Dallas LBU to collect non-perishable food items.

Volunteer Opportunities, Come Join Us:

Furthermore, the Dallas LBU volunteered with TangoCharities/Feed the City on Sept. 16th from 8AM-10AM. Feed the City is a monthly volunteer opportunity where individuals come together at a local venue to make lunches for people in need. The lunches consist of sandwiches, chips, and fruit, and are open to all who wish to participate, including children. “There have been nearly 1,000 Feed the City events who have welcomed over 75,000 volunteers in 5 countries, 11 states, and 53 cities that have provided over 3 MILLION meals to people in need. The events are led and hosted by volunteers who are dedicated to the fight against hunger.”- TangoCharities

Growing Our Giving Back Initiatives:

Overall, the volunteers had the opportunity to make 3628 meals with Feed the City at the Star in Frisco! According to Feeding America, the largest charity working to end hunger in America, the current food insecurity rate is 12.9 percent in North Texas, with Dallas County being the 6th highest in the number of food-insecure persons in the nation.

The impact we make will continue to develop, “alone we can do so little, together we can do so much!” – Helen Keller. We look forward to growing our giving back initiatives in 2024. Be sure to check back as we partner with Hope’s Door- New Beginning Center for the holidays!
