Thailand: New Economy, New Opportunities

Last July, we took it a step further with a 2-day industry forum on “Thailand: New Economy, New Opportunities” in Sydney (11th July) and Brisbane (13th July). This was hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy Canberra, the Royal Thai Consulate-General Sydney, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), and ASW Global.
The forum served as a unique platform to forge new partnerships and gain valuable insights about investing in Thailand. With the Australia-Thailand relationship elevated to a Strategic Partnership and the substantial opportunities underpinned by the Thailand-Australia Free Trade Agreement, there is no better time to consider Thailand for business expansion.

H.E. Ms. Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Australia, opened the Brisbane event with her welcome speech.
Mrs. Hataya Khusakul (Consul-General, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Sydney) gave the opening remarks in Sydney.
Ms. Sithee Tanboonteck (Thailand BOI Sydney Office Director and Investment Consul to AU & NZ) shared insights on Thailand and Australia’s strategic and economy relationship and Thailand’s investment promotion strategy for 2023-2027. Promising sectors include the BCG industry, basic and supporting industries, digital and creative services, high value services, and industries utilising advanced technologies.
ASW CEO Mr. Joe Fussell (Board Member, Australia Thailand Business Council) discussed ASW’s expansion plans in Thailand and shared strategies on how we help businesses create international teams, based on the ASW model.
Australia Thailand Business Council National VP Mr. Dale Foody (Consultant to the Thailand BOI – AU & NZ) and Deborah Biber from Australia-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce were among the panel speakers with Joe and Sithee. Top questions focussed on the economic landscape of Thailand, why the country has become a target-rich environment for talent, and the best way to enter the Thai market.
